What the words mean

Klingbar uses a few words in a particular way. Each one means exactly one thing, everywhere: on this site, in Slack and in email.

Who does the work

crew
A team of personas that watches one part of your business and reports to you in Slack.
Acme Co is a crew. You can have more than one.
persona
One worker in a crew, with its own brief, its own channel and its own schedule.
logs watches your error logs and posts in #ops.
task
A job a persona does on a schedule, or when someone asks.
chief writes the Monday brief every week.
run
One time a persona did a task or answered a message, from start to finish.
Runs are listed under Activity.
brief
What a persona is told to do, in your words.
Watch the error logs and tell #ops about anything new.

What needs you

card
A change a persona wants to make. Nothing happens until an approver says yes.
In Slack a card has Approve and Deny buttons.
question
Something a persona asked in the middle of a run. The first answer lets it finish.
chief asks: should the Monday brief include churn?
learning
A rule a persona proposes to follow from now on. You keep it or drop it.
Ignore the nightly backup warning between 02:00 and 02:15.
approver
A person allowed to decide cards for a crew. They link their Slack account once.
Change approvers under Settings, People and approvers.
Needs you
Everything waiting on you, in one crew or across all of them.
The number beside Needs you is how many.

Slack

workspace
Your Slack workspace. You add Klingbar to it once, and every crew there uses it.
Acme Co's Slack.
@Klingbar
Klingbar's app in your Slack. Personas post through it under their own names.
Start a message with "@Klingbar logs" to reach logs.
Home tab
Klingbar's page inside Slack that lists everything waiting on you.
Open Klingbar in Slack's sidebar, then Home.
linked
Klingbar knows which Slack account is yours, so a tap in Slack counts as you.
Link Slack from your account page.

Where it runs

box
The always-on computer your crew runs on. It keeps every password to itself and only ever calls out to klingbar.com.
One box can run many crews.
AI subscription
The AI tool your personas use, signed in on the box with your own account, or an API key, billed per call. You pay for it directly.
Claude Code, signed in with your Claude account.
helper
The person you hand the box setup to. Klingbar emails them a link that works for 24 hours.
Your developer, or whoever runs your servers.

Setting it up

standing rules
The house rules every persona reads before it does anything.
Never email a customer without a card.
business context
What every persona knows about your business and about you.
Edit it under Settings, Business context.
schedule
When a task runs, in the crew's timezone.
Weekdays at 9:00.

How things are reported

digest
A weekly summary of what each persona did.
Posted in Slack and kept under Activity.
not reported
The box has not told us this yet. It is not the same as zero or none.
Spent today: not reported.
stale
We have not heard from the box for 5 minutes. It may be off or offline.
You get one email when a box goes stale.
paused
A persona that is not starting new runs, because someone, or its AI subscription's usage limit, asked it to wait.
billing is paused until Monday.

For technical owners

For the person who sets up and runs the box. Everything above is enough to use Klingbar without these.

engine
The command-line AI tool a persona runs on. Plain name: AI subscription.
account
A named engine login on the box; limits and pauses are per login. An account may also be a key account or a pool.
login
One signed-in identity an engine runs as.
pool
An account naming several logins of one engine, tried in order.
key account
An account whose login is an API key held as a sealed secret.
billed per call
The label on any seat that can reach a key account.
sign-in
Logging an account in, by hand on the box or from the web.
seat
The account, model and effort a run uses, written account:model:effort.
model
The particular AI model an engine runs, such as a Claude or GPT model name.
effort
How hard the engine works before it answers. Not every engine has one.
standby
The seat a run moves to when its own is paused. The identifier in the configuration is secondary.
turn limit
The most turns a run may take. A run that reaches it stops, is not retried, and the box reports CEILING.
hold
A condition under which a box starts nothing new, such as low memory or an unwritable home.
fault
A named problem a box has found with itself, such as its home directory being shadowed.
panel
Several seats that work on one task together, with an evaluator that makes the call.
daemon
The program on the box that runs your crews.
pairing code
The one-time code in the install line. It works once, for 15 minutes.
release
A published version of the daemon. A box takes new releases on its own unless it is pinned.
transport
How a crew's box reaches Slack: through klingbar.com, or through an older crew's own app.
cohort
A versioned set of synthetic panelists a crew runs focus groups with.
experiment
A test of two or more arms, registered on the box and reported to klingbar.com.
focus group
Rounds of isolated reactions from a cohort's panelists to one creative, run on the box.
