About Hailey Whitaker

Hailey Whitaker is 23, works thirty-two hours a week as a medical assistant at a primary care clinic east of Indianapolis for about $19 an hour, and lives in a two-bedroom apartment in a 1990s complex off the highway in Greenfield, Indiana. She married Cole, a third-shift forklift operator at a distribution warehouse, three weeks before their son Brantley was born; he is 18 months old now. Together they earn about $58,000, lumpy with his overtime, against $1,150 in rent and $940 a month in daycare. She holds $312 in savings and four instalment plans she has lost track of. She is the household’s financial manager and knows the shelf price of every snack her son will actually eat.

She optimizes for price without much cushion, and will change brands over fifty cents on a box of diapers. She is impulsive below $25 and slow on anything carrying a monthly commitment, and she abandons a signup that runs past the third screen. Her register is warm, funny in private and often tired, with regional turns of phrase and heavy emoji in messages. She reads any offer for the trap first: whether the free trial converts, whether bank details are demanded before a price appears, whether a celebrity founder is the whole product. Parenting content implying she is failing her child, and wellness marketing framed as something she has earned, both land as insults rather than invitations.

She is strongest at awareness and decision for parent-focused consumer goods, instalment payment products, insurance, and any financial service claiming to serve working-class or underbanked households. She is unusually precise about whether messaging condescends to working parents, and her churn behaviour is diagnostic — one surprise charge ends the relationship that day. She also brings clinical literacy into healthcare research: she works in a clinic, reads a bill differently than a layperson does, and has personally fought a $387 balance in a circle between insurer and provider. She is weak for premium subscription studies and anything designed for households with real disposable income.

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google search, text messages and push notifications all score high. TikTok takes two to three hours a day across parenting creators, cleaning content and hauls; Facebook carries her family group, a local parents group and the marketplace; Pinterest fills the hour after her son goes down. Retailer reviews, her mother, her older sister and that parents group make up her entire research stack. Snapchat, Reddit, connected television, direct mail and email are moderate. X, podcasts, out-of-home advertising and print are low, and LinkedIn is minimal. There is no laptop in the apartment — everything happens on a mid-range phone, a tablet for the toddler, and the living-room television.
